2007 AMR JULY SESSION
The AMR session took place on 3-4 July 2007 at Palais des Nations in Geneva during the High-level Segment of the ECOSOC Substantive Session. The review opened with a key note address, followed by the six national voluntary presentations of progress made in the implementation of national development strategies. On the second day, a general debate on the AMR theme took place, in parallel with two high-level roundtables. Several informal events were also organized in the margin of the High-level Segment.
- The AMR thematic review on “Strengthening efforts to eradicate poverty and hunger, including through the global partnership for development” provided an opportunity for participants to exchange views during a general debate and two high-level roundtables on “Ending the cycle of food crises: cultivating a home-grown green revolution in Africa” and “Poverty eradication – Making it happen”.
- Voluntary national presentations by Barbados , Bangladesh , Cambodia , Cape Verde , Ethiopia and Ghana provided an opportunity to share lessons learned about overcoming the obstacles encountered in implementing national development strategies. More...
- Parallel informal events included an AMR innovation fair, which provided the opportunity for showcasing examples of best practices and lessons-learned in eradicating poverty and hunger which merit scaling-up. On 28-30 June 2007, immediately prior to the start of the ECOSOC High-level Segment the annual ECOSOC NGO Forum took place on "Strengthening efforts at all levels to promote pro-poor sustained economic growth, including through equitable macro-economic policies" and “Strengthening efforts to eradicate poverty and hunger, including through the global partnership for development” .
