Regional Preparatory Meeting for Asia and Pacific on “Science, technology and innovation for promoting renewable energy technologies for sustainable development”, 13 March 2013, Bangkok

A regional preparatory meeting on the theme “Science, technology and innovation for promoting renewable energy technologies for sustainable development”, was held on 13 March 2013, in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting was organized in preparation for the 2013 Annual Ministerial Review of the UN Economic and Social Council, to be held in Geneva in July 2013, on the theme: “Science, technology and innovation, and the potential of culture, for promoting sustainable development and achieving the Millennium Development Goals”. It was hosted by the Government of Thailand in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).

The meeting brought together policy makers in the energy and sustainable development sectors from the countries in the region, representatives of local governments, multilateral institutions, key donors, civil society and the private sector, to identify trends and challenges with regards to renewable energy technologies for sustainable development in the region.
