Open briefing of the Counter-Terrorism Committee: #GenderAndCT

The United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC), will hold an open briefing related to gender. This follows the Security Council¡¯s adoption of its resolutions 2242 (2015) and 2395 (2017), which request the Committee and the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) to (i) integrate gender as a cross-cutting issue throughout their activities; (ii) hold consultations with women and women¡¯s organizations to inform their work; and to (iii), in collaboration with UN Women, conduct gender-sensitive research and collect data on the drivers of radicalization for women and on the impacts of counter-terrorism strategies on women¡¯s human rights and women¡¯s organizations, in order to develop targeted and evidence-based policy and programming responses.

Taking place at United Nations headquarters on Friday, 1 November 2019 in the ECOSOC Chamber from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, ¡°Integrating gender into the work of the Committee and CTED¡± is open to Member and Observer States, members of the media including photographers with valid accreditation, United Nations staff and interns, UN entities, intergovernmental organizations, and specialized agencies, as well as invited guests with a valid UN grounds pass.
