Open meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee on #CTNarratives

Mi¨¦rcoles, 23 March 2022 - 3:00pm to 6:00pm

On 23 March, the Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) will hold an open meeting to encourage Member States to reinforce their efforts in the field of countering terrorist narratives while taking into account the Comprehensive International Framework to counter terrorist narratives () and the guidelines contained in Security Council resolution 2354 (2017). Those measures urge States to share information on trends and developments in terrorist narratives, develop effective measures to counter them, and identify ways to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of counter-narratives. The meeting will take place at United Nations Headquarters on Wednesday 23 March 2022 in the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Chamber, from 03:00 to 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be webcast at .

In May 2017, the United Nations Security Council adopted , which directs the CTC, with the support of its Executive Directorate (CTED), to organize at least one open meeting annually to review global developments in countering terrorist narratives. It further requests the Committee and CTED to recommend ways for Member States to enhance their efforts in the field of countering terrorist narratives, stipulating that all measures taken must comply with Member States¡¯ obligations under international law, including international human rights law, international refugee law, and international humanitarian law.
