UN Women Asia and the Pacific and World Design Organization (WDO) launched a World Design Challenge to create a global mobilization of design professionals in an effort to brainstorm, research and ideate innovative solutions to the egregious reality of violence against women and girls (VAWG).

Violence against women is learned, and can therefore be unlearned or prevented entirely. Focusing on the Asia Pacific region, this World Design Challenge took place from 10 – 21 August 2020 and brought together volunteer workgroups from over 29 countries. Over the course of two weeks, teams worked remotely to address the most urgent factors of this issue and produce an array of inspired and inclusive design solutions to help fight VAWG globally.
