World Children’s Day is celebrated each year on 20 November, the date in 1959 when the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child. The aim of World Children’s Day is to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children's welfare. The ongoing COVID-19 crisis has resulted in a child rights crisis. The costs of the pandemic for children are immediate and, if unaddressed, may last a lifetime.
