Inspired by the legacy of Dr. Hansa Mehta, a prominent Indian educator, social activist and writer, the Permanent Mission of India and United Nations Academic Impact will host the inaugural Hansa Mehta Dialogue on 8 March 2021 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
The live virtual dialogue will focus on the theme "Women's Economic Empowerment and Inclusive Global Economic Growth: COVID-19 and Beyond" and will explore the negative economic and social impact of COVID-19 on women.
The event will feature Dr. Gita Gopinath, the Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as keynote speaker, remarks from H.E. Ambassador T.S. Tirumurti, Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, and Under-Secretary-General of the UN Department of Global Communications, Ms. Melissa Fleming, Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of UN-Women, Ms. Anita Bhatia as well as an interactive conversation moderated by H.E. Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations.
