6 February 2019?- Kristu Jayanti College?(India),?a member institution of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI)?that has been chosen as the?SDG Hub for Sustainable Development Goal 1:?End poverty in all its forms everywhere, launched action-oriented programmes on campus and in neighboring villages, focusing on the theme Samruddha Vishwa (No Poverty).

Activities were carried out during the Kristu Jayanti College National Social Service Annual Special Camp at Doddamaralavadi village from 16 to 22 November 2018 with the intention of ending poverty, including:

- English literacy programmes for the students in government schools and junior college;
- Computer literacy programmes in government schools and junior college;
- A rally in the neighbourhood villages of Doddamaralavadi that spreaded the message of No Poverty and promoted education.

Later in December, the Rural exposure Camp was organized by the Centre for Social Acvitities (CSA) in Purushanahalli village, Doddaballapura Taluk, under the theme of promoting education to eradicate poverty.?Life Skills Training was conducted for 40 high school students of Siddaganga School in the village by CSA volunteers. The students expressed that they benefited from learning about the?ten life skills during the training, namely self-awareness, empathy, critical thinking, creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, effective communication, interpersonal relationship, coping with stress, and coping with emotion.?

A state-level consultation was also organized by the Department of Social Work on the UN Sustainable Development Goal 1: No Poverty, with the participation of Mr. Vetri Selvan John K, Program Manager, World Vision India, Bengaluru and Ms. Sashmeeta Mulmi, Director, Strategic Engagement, International Justice Mission, Bengaluru.?
