Ms. Beatrix KANIA
Chief of Protocol Beatrix joined the UN after 30 years in the German diplomatic service. Serving as the UN Chief of Protocol is a dream come true for her. She would love to have a dog (preferably, a boxer), takes ice-skating classes and has published a cookbook.

Ms. Aicha BENMANSOUR
Acting Deputy Chief of Protocol Aicha joined the Protocol and Liaison Service in 2018 after working for many years in the UN system, including UNICEF, UNFPA, UNITAR and UNFCCC, both in Headquarters and in the field. She graduated in various disciplines such as Communication, International Relations, Diplomacy, Public Policy, Non-Profit Management, Emergency Preparedness and... Scuba Diving. Her favorite aspect of her current job is the diversity of the people encountered and the collaborative efforts for the global common good. She is a proud mother of two who loves traveling, reading, and exploring the underwater world.

Mr. Fariz MIRSALAYEV
Protocol Officer Having joined the Protocol and Liaison Service years ago, Fariz thoroughly enjoys the multilateral and shared nature of the work carried by his Office, as well as the opportunities the subject work presents for contributing to broader, common, goals and objectives of the United Nations Organization. Holding dual degrees in international law and diplomacy, as well as in music education and performance (piano), he is keenly aware of the importance of (always) finding meaningful functional polyphony among divergent, yet collaborating, approaches.

Ms. Carolina LLOVERA ALCAZAR
Protocol Officer Carolina joined the Protocol and Liaison Service in September 2024 after working in the UN Specialized Agencies FAO, IFAD and UNESCO. She is passionate about international affairs and committed to contribute to a more inclusive, innovative, and effective multilateralism. As a means of relaxation, she likes to practice yoga and gardening.

Ms. Wai Tak CHUA
Senior Protocol Assistant Wai Tak joined the UN in 1994 starting with the Security Council and GA Affairs and spent 11 years in the SG’s Office before joining the Protocol Office in 2008. She is fascinated by the diversities and different cultures of the people she meets daily and is extremely honored to have met 3 Popes.

Mr. Hans GROHMANN
Senior Protocol Assistant Hans has worked in Protocol since 1994 and enjoys the ceremonial aspects of Protocol, from fun and colorful photo opportunities, to serious and formal flag ceremonies, to solemn memorials. His lifelong martial arts training helps him maintain patience and calm to deal with the challenges of Protocol.

Ms. Pamela OBINO
Assistant to the Chief of Protocol Pamela joined the Protocol Unit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2000 and moved to New York in 2013. She enjoys the versatility within the United Nations Headquarters and the opportunity of meeting various dignitaries. Pam also worked in 国产AVkeeping Missions in Sudan and Liberia. She recently took up gardening and still enjoys long walks.

Mr. Roderick SANTOS
Protocol Assistant Roderick began his career at the United Nations Headquarters in New York in 1999. Before joining UN Protocol in 2013, he previously worked as a staff of the UN Publishing Section, the UN Interpretation Service, and the UN Verbatim Reporting Service. Although a bonsai enthusiast and artisan, he is also passionate about drawing and inking, among other creative genres of the visual arts.

Mr. Patrick RUIZ
Protocol Assistant Patrick joined the UN after more than a decade in the Philippine civil service, including in the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Foreign Affairs. He enjoys spending time with nature and likes to travel with curiosity to learn about the history and culture of the people he meets. Patrick played in a local groove metal band in his younger years and still enjoys listening to metal music.

Mr. Haunath KASSI
Protocol Assistant Haunath started at the United Nations in September 2008. After working in the UN Publishing Section, he joined the Protocol and Liaison Service in 2011. Since Haunath was a child he liked to follow the news and learn about the world around him. So he is thrilled to be working in an environment where he can meet and interact with the actors and the makers of the news. He also enjoys dancing to the sounds of Gospel music.
