Norway Launches Passenger Information Unit with the Support of the United Nations Countering Terrorist Travel Programme

The United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Countering Terrorist Travel (‘CT Travel’) Programme, and Norway launched its new Passenger Information Unit (PIU) to detect and prevent the movement of terrorists and criminals, becoming the first member state to achieve this milestone and to utilize the United Nations software solution 'goTravel'. The PIU was established under the framework of the United Nations Countering Terrorist Travel Programme (CT Travel), coordinated by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) together with the United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) and the Kingdom of Norway (through the National Criminal Investigation Service jointly with the Norwegian Police Security Service and the Norwegian Customs Service).
