Event Summary:
In June 2016, CCOI partnered with the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television for a special screening of the documentary HOKA HEY A Good Day to Die, a film that deals with the experiences of conflict photographers. The screening was followed by a conversation with the filmmakers and a United Nations representative on press freedom and related issues.
In June 2015, the Festival featured a panel discussion on the theme of “UNEARTH Stories: Behind the Scenes on the World Stage” where filmmakers who have found inspiration in real human stories at the United Nations shared their experiences of collaborating with the Organization.
CCOI’s Role:
For the 2015 and 2016 LA Film Festival, CCOI participated in the logistical planning of the screenings and the panel discussions.
With the Hollywood film industry and the support of the UN Foundation and Variety, a leading trade magazine for the entertainment industry in the United States, CCOI organized a luncheon in Los Angeles in May 2012 with more than 100 representatives of the Hollywood film industry. The event provided an opportunity to highlight the work of the UN, as well as the role of CCOI, to a broad range of professionals from the industry
