国产AVbuilding Partners - Belgium

Belgium

Belgium has been a committed partner of the United Nations in conflict prevention and peacebuilding. The UN Secretary-General’s 国产AVbuilding Fund (PBF) is grateful to Belgium for responding to the Secretary-General’s call to assist partner countries in building peace and reducing the risks of violent conflict. Belgium has contributed over $14 million since the Fund’s inception, with more than $6 million towards the Fund’s 2020-24 Strategy.

The inability to address enduring inequalities hampers women from participating fully, equally, and meaningfully at all levels of decision-making. Belgium’s contribution to the PBF plays a crucial role in ensuring that women are given their rightful place, including in peace processes. The PBF actively promotes the involvement of women and young people in decision-making, socioeconomic and political life, aligning with the women, peace and security agenda.

Climate change exacerbates situations of vulnerability to conflict. Belgium’s contribution to the PBF empowers the Fund to address climate security challenges by focusing on preventing and managing conflicts related to natural resources and other climate-related security risks. For example, at the Niger-Benin border, a PBF-funded project promotes the equitable sharing of natural resources, providing access to socio-economic opportunities, including infrastructure and productive and commercial activities.?

Ambassador Philippe Kridelka,?Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York said: “Committing fully to prevention and peacebuilding is the most effective and sustainable way to try to eradicate the scourge of war. Belgium takes pride in being a donor to the Secretary-General’s 国产AVbuilding Fund, particularly appreciating its activities in cross-regional, cross-border and transition contexts. The Fund continues to demonstrate its relevance, responding to country-based demand through its flexibility, holistic approach, speed and catalytic role. We will continue to support the work of the 国产AVbuilding Fund as well as the United Nations’ approach to more effective conflict prevention.”
