Summary
This side event, organized on the margin of the UN STI Forum, will bring together policymakers, academics, African institutions , the private sector and civil society organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to share experiences of STI policy-making and implementation in relation to food systems in Africa since the UN Food Systems Summit in 2021. The event will identify existing policy-making and implementation gaps and opportunities to further leverage STI, including through promoting STEM education and adopting appropriate IP policies, to transform African food systems. The outcome of discussions at the side event, including analysis and policy recommendations, will feed into the UN Food Systems Stocktaking Moment, which will take place in Rome, Italy, from 24 – 26 July 2023.
