Preparatory process
A thorough preparatory process with webinars, consultations and knowledge products will inform the agenda of the Forum and set the direction for the next decade of the SIDS-GBN.
As part of the preparatory process, an advisory group has been set up to provide guidance throughout the process. The group includes the following members:

Preparatory activities
First preparatory meeting
The purpose of the meeting is to connect private sector representatives with SIDS missions in New York, development partners and UN agencies to discuss shared priorities for a new SIDS agenda
Webinar 1: Building Back Better: Public-Private Resilience Strategies for Small Island Developing States
The webinar focused on the critical issue of building resilience in SIDS and specifically on the catalytic role of public-private partnerships with case studies from areas like tourism, infrastructure, food security, and business continuity.
Webinar 2: Blueprints for Success: Harnessing Blue-Green Economies in Small Island Developing States
The webinar dived into the development of the blue-green economy in SIDS and underscored the pivotal roles of capacity building and investment with case studies on blue and green economies and maritime decarbonization.
Webinar 3: Small Islands, Big Ideas: Digitalization, Technology and Innovation in Small Island Developing States
The webinar focused on exploring digitalization, innovation, and technology within SIDS.
Webinar 4: Banking on SIDS: Investment Strategies for Small Island Business Prosperity
The fourth webinar will explore strategies for mobilizing Foreign Direct Investment and Equity Investment into businesses in SIDS, particularly SMEs, and on how policymakers can facilitate this.
Webinar 5: Island Ethics: A Principles-based Approach to Doing Business in Small Island Developing States
The webinar will explore how the Global Compact Principles apply to SIDS and the new SIDS agenda. It will particularly look at the business environment in SIDS and how responsible business facilitates long-term success for businesses operating in SIDS, including Micro Small and Medium Enterprises.
