Inter-Agency Consultative Group (IACG) on LLDCs
The IACG is an informal consultative mechanism, convened by UN-OHRLLS, convened of experts on LLDCs issues from the UN and other international and regional organisations.
The IACG focuses on opportunities to enhance coordination and collaboration in support of LLDCs in the implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action for LLDCs for the Decade 2014-2024 (VPoA), and each member contributes based on their organisations’ area of expertise.
The broad membership makes it an effective tool for keeping LLDCs issues high on the international agenda and maintaining momentum created at the Midterm Review of the Implementation of the VPoA, in December 2019.
The main activities being pursued through the IACG are:
-
Coordinating activities linked to the implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action at global, regional and national levels;
-
Monitoring and updating of the Roadmap for Accelerated Implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action adopted by LLDC Ministers of Foreign Affairs in September 2020;
-
Coordinating the preparation of the annual Secretary-General’s report on implementation of the Vienna Programme of Action and other relevant documents;
-
Replicating and scaling up best practices for the benefit of LLDCs;
IACG meetings are typically held twice a year in person, where possible, or virtually.
