Integrating Human Rights in Financing for Development
Organised by
United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights
Summary
For development efforts to realize the ultimate objective of freedom from fear and want for all persons, all human rights, including the right to development, must be adequately integrated in FFD. The FFD outcome should set the tone for a rights-based development agenda and guarantee the means of its implementation. This event will explore the significance of human rights considerations in FFD, including strengths and weaknesses in the outcome document and its relevance to post-2015, foreign debt and its impact on human rights, private sector accountability for human rights and development, and existing efforts to integrate human rights in financing development and development partnerships with the objective of increasing awareness of links between human rights, FFD, and the broader development agenda.
