Summary
What are the implications for financing gender equality, human rights and economic justice within the FfD process? When all forms of development financing present specific threats and opportunities for gender equality and human rights, including women’s rights, how do we ensure a human rights balance while pushing for a transformative development agenda? This event will present the latest analysis and state of play of the outcome document of FfD3 and highlight key issues that are at stake given the potential of the FfD process to either contribute to achieve economic justice and advance the realization of human rights for all or to further entrench human rights abuses and exacerbate gender inequality. The panel will identify concrete proposals to overcoming the systemic imbalances that underpin poverty, inequality, environmental degradation and climate change, asymmetries and mal-distribution of power and resources in the global political economy. The session will draw also on the recommendations from the latest publication of the Women’s Working Group on Financing for Development, which will be launched at this event.
