Ethiopia Rising: Aspiring to Become a Carbon Neutral Middle Income Manufacturing Hub by 2025

Ethiopia is determined to take its hard won achievements to the next level over the coming decade. It has set an ambitious vision of becoming a carbon neutral middle-income manufacturing hub by 2025. Indeed its performance and expanding potential indicate that its emergence as one of the most promising candidates to become the next hub for manufacturing particularly in light manufacturing.
On the margin of the Addis Ababa International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD), the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has organized Ethiopian side event entitled “Ethiopia Rising: Determined to become a Carbon Neutral Middle-Income Manufacturing Hub by 2025â€
The Objectives of the Side Event are:
1. Showcase Ethiopia’s successes in pursuing a development strategy that has reinvigorated its critical economic sectors and laid the foundation for sustained growth and diversification in the Post-2015 period.
2. Inform participants how Ethiopia is further sharpening its policies, instruments and core infrastructure and administrative systems to implement through its Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) II its nationally adapted SDGs.
3. Expand and deepen Ethiopia’s partnership with international private investors and development actors by identifying the investment opportunities the country offers.
