Summary
Today’s global macroeconomic environment is marked by uncertain sovereign risks, volatile interest rates and by a general decline of international development assistance. In the meatime, African countries now long for greater sovereignty in terms of political and financial policy.
In this context, domestic resources mobilisation comes out as the optimal solution to support development policies in Africa and to fund national development programmes.
Our side-event will be aimed at sharing experiences and expertise between stakeholders from such countries as Senegal and the Republic of Congo or such regional organisations as WAEMU.
The objective will also be discussing the technical issues and economic perspectives of domestic resources mobilisation.
Our experts will, among other topics, focus on the ways to improve impact assessment of tax exemptions regimes. And for illustrative purposes to stress more particularly what measures can be implemented rapidly and bear fruit in the sort run, we will concentrate on the issue of tax expenditures.
