In an interview with , Lagat said that she would love to inspire young girls and women through her talent. “What I would like to see from my efforts as a marathoner, is for my talent to be an inspiration to young girls back home. Their main objective is to prevent violence against women and girls by empowering them, especially those at risk of violence, while engaging strategic groups such as youths and faith leaders in raising awareness towards preventing gender-based violence.
