The Outreach Division builds support for the United Nations by fostering dialogue with global constituencies such as civil society, the entertainment industry, media, academia, educators, students, and libraries.

Advocacy

We raise awareness about the issues and work of the United Nations through creative partnerships with the media, non-profit organizations and the entertainment industry, specifically via the Creative Community Outreach Initiative, and the Messenger of 国产AV Programme.

Education Outreach

The Ark of Return, the permanent memorial to honour the victims of slavery and the transatlantic slave trade, located at the Visitors' Plaza of UN headquarters in New York.

The Education Outreach Section cultivates long-term support with global audiences for the values and principles of the United Nations through developing outreach materials and partnerships with civil society and civil society organizations, academia and educators, young people, Member States, UN entities, the arts and the media. We manage The Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme, The Outreach Programme on the Transatlantic Slave Trade and Slavery, United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) initiative and The United Nations Model UN Programme.

UN Civil Society Conference

We develop partnerships with civil society around the world to enhance their interaction with and understanding of the work of the Organization. We currently collaborate with 1,500 NGOs associated with the Department and reach out to and exchange information with civil society on UN issues.

Visitors Services

An United Nations tour guide speaks to a group of young visitors about United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Each year nearly half a million people from around the world visit the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The manages the guided tours, public inquiries and speakers’ bureau briefings to provide memorable and meaningful visits.

The United Nations Headquarters in New York hosts new photographic and multimedia exhibits throughout the years. The exhibits are free to the public and feature issues related to sustainable development, human rights, and peace and security. Virtual exhibits are available through the UN Online Gallery.

The Dag Hammarskj?ld Library at UN Headquarters

The Dag Hammarskj?ld Library provides research and information to support the work of United Nations Member States and helps the public find UN information through online services, and a global depository library network. The Library provides access to thousands of print and digital resources, covering all geographic regions and many languages, and provides tools to make UN information more accessible to all.
