Following the successful opening of the UN Postal Administration (UNPA) in New York in 1951, the second branch of the UNPA opened at the Palais des Nations in Geneva in 1969.?

An agreement between the United Nations and the Swiss Postal Telephone and Telegraph Enterprise in 1968 enabled the opening of the UNPA Geneva office. The first United Nations stamps in Swiss francs were issued on 4 October 1969 at the Palais des Nations.

The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) is issuing a new special event sheet on 24 October 2024 to commemorate the fifty-fifth anniversary of its Geneva post office.

The sheet of 10 stamps in the denomination of CHF 1,20 features various images and artwork of the Geneva headquarters complex. The tabs to the right of the stamps feature an illustration of architectural elements from the Geneva headquarters.

The background of the sheet features the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room, one of the largest conference rooms in the Palace of Nations. It was completely renovated as part of a Spanish donation to the United Nations.

The main feature is a ceiling sculpture by?Miquel Barceló. It was inaugurated on 18 November 2008, by the United Nations Secretary-General and the King and Queen of Spain.

Sergio Baradat of the UNPA is the designer of the stamp sheet.

The stamp sheets may be personalized with a photograph to replace the United Nations illustration. Customers can visit the UNPA stamp shops in New York, Geneva or Vienna to have their photos taken in person, or they can upload their photos directly to the UNPA website:?
