2020 marks 75 years since the founding of the United Nations. Though we have faced many unprecedented challenges with COVID-19 this year, the pandemic has reminded us why we need to keep working together as a global community.

Along with this pandemic, many other challenges remain on the UN’s agenda that need to be addressed, such as gender-based violence, climate change, hunger, poverty among others. Despite the circumstances, we have continuously learned how to persevere through difficult times.

“We face colossal challenges. With global solidarity and cooperation, we can overcome them,” said Secretary-General António Guterres in his UN75 message.

As a form of commemoration of global cooperation during the past 75 years, the Yearbook of the United Nations team produced an illustrated book on the transformative impact of successful multilateralism.

The UN75 book, , seeks to encourage countries, organizations, and civil society to continue working together.

From its founding in 1945, the United Nations' primary goal is to build and sustain lasting peace. Read the rich tapestry of stories about the UN’s efforts towards:

  • fighting poverty,
  • combatting climate change and protecting the environment,
  • undertaking to transform conflicts into peace,
  • helping refugees thrive,
  • supporting sharing the benefits of technology,
  • working to stop the spread of infectious diseases,
  • reducing the risk of disasters,
  • helping render justice for all,
