On 29 September, we celebrate the first observance of the?. It also comes during the COVID-19 pandemic which has brought about a global wake-up on the need to transform and rebalance the way our food is produced and consumed.
Reducing the staggering amount of food wasted or lost every day is essential in a world where the number of people affected by hunger has been slowly on the rise since 2014.?Food loss and waste also puts unnecessary pressure on the environment, depleting the natural resource base and generating greenhouse gases.
To raise awareness on food waste and its environmental impact and to encourage more sustainable behaviors at home, we are asking everyone to share their??from now to World Food Day on 16 October.
Share your most precious recipes and tips on reducing food waste - the ones you learned from your grandparents, the ones that have become a family tradition, and the ones that you came across by curiously sifting through cookbooks, videos and cooking with friends.
