The General Assembly Building, Conference Building and North Lawn Building will be closed to non-essential personnel on Saturday, 20 July 2024.? Beginning at 7:00 a.m., normal electrical power will be turned off to the buildings for electrical testing and maintenance.? During this testing, regular lighting, power to workstations, vertical transportation systems, and some HVAC (Heating,?Ventilation and Air-Conditioning) and plumbing systems will be out of service or running at reduced or limited capacities.?
The affected areas will be operating on emergency power during the shutdown, including life safety systems, emergency lighting, and telecommunications equipment. The Secretariat Building, Dag Hammarskj?ld Library, and South Annex Building and South Screening Building will not be affected.? All testing is expected to be completed by 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
All UN Staff whose presence is not required in these buildings are requested to plan to work from home or another location. Remote office capabilities will be unaffected.?
