The Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is proud to announce the reopening of the historic Africa Hall in Addis Ababa, following extensive renovations.

Originally inaugurated in 1961 by Emperor Haile Selassie, Africa Hall is the birthplace of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), now the African Union (AU), and has witnessed numerous pivotal moments in Africa's history.

The grand reopening ceremony will take place on October 21, 2024, at 3:30 PM EAT/ 2:30 PM CET/ 8:30 AM EDT, and will be live streamed globally on UN Web TV.

The event will be opened by senior officials from the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the United Nations, and the African Union Commission. High-level participants will include Heads of State, leaders of international organizations, and representatives from the diplomatic community, private sector, civil society, academia, and media.
