Submit your organization’s written inputs to the 2022 UN Ocean Conference (closed now)

Non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector and philanthropic organizations, whose work is relevant to the Conference and who have been accredited in accordance with General Assembly resolution A/RES/73/292, can submit written statements/inputs to the Conference via a dedicated form, which was closed on 1 July 2022.

All submitted statements/inputs have been published on this page and publicly available during and after the Conference.

Global online stakeholders consultation - inputs to concept papers of interactive dialogues (closed now)

Taking into account the evolving landscape and new challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, stakeholders were invited to contribute inputs to update the concept papers of the eight interactive dialogues of the Conference with latest COVID-related data and analysis in the status and trends, challenges and opportunities, possible areas for new partnerships as well as recommendations on advancing implementation of SDG 14.

In this regard, a global  was set up to gather inputs from non-governmental organizations, non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector, philanthropic organizations and other actors. Please and view the responses received from all stakeholders .

Keeping the momentum for the ocean action series - May 2020 to June 2020

The second United Nations Ocean Conference has been postponed, but the substantive preparations for the Conference continue. Keeping stakeholders mobilized to bring their contribution and commitment will be critical in the lead up to the event. In preparation to the Conference, UN DESA is organizing a “Keeping the Momentum for Ocean Action” webinar series to bring perspectives from stakeholders from different sectors and all regions of the world in support to SDG 14 implementation.

This series of sectorial webinars will connect, mobilize and bring new ideas from stakeholders towards the preparation and outreach of the UN Ocean Conference, including the compilation of new Commitments of Ocean Action and progress on previous commitments. Webinars are being planned to mobilize youth, local and regional governments, Asia-Pacific stakeholders and the private sector.

Second co-facilitators online briefing with stakeholders: inputs to zero draft of conference declaration - 17 March 2020

Stakeholders Interventions on the zero draft of the second UN Ocean Conference Declaration:

The programme of the second UN Ocean Conference will include eight interactive dialogues which will be collaborative and multi-stakeholder in nature and will focus on recommendations to support the implementation of Goal 14, including through strengthened cooperation, building on existing successful partnerships and stimulating innovative and concrete new ones, taking into account the theme of the Conference.

Stakeholders were invited to provide inputs to the concept papers on each of the themes of the interactive dialogues – the deadline was 19 March 2020. A total of 184 stakeholders’ submissions were received.
