In 2008, Dickson Mazinga was a chef in a five-star hotel in the Kenyan coastal town of Watamu. He quit his job to join with young people from Dabaso village on the outskirts of Watamu to protect the mangrove forest.

Kenyan Coastal Villagers earning a living from selling Carbon Credits

( Nairobi 23 January 2023). Kiswahili speakers in East Africa have a newly invented word, "hewa kaa", meaning carbon credit – commodity villagers in Kenya's coastal village are selling to international corporates in lieu of their pollution. When asked what business these villagers are in, they say: "we are selling air."

UNIS Nairobi supports UN Chief Executive Board 2023 visit in Kenya

(Nairobi, 6 May 2023 ). The United Nations System Chief Executives Board for Coordination (CEB) held its first regular session for 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya, on 4 and 5 May 2023. The CEB session was generously hosted by the United Nations Environment Programme and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, with the support of the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) and United Nations Information Service, Nairobi (UNIS Nairobi).

There is still time to achieve SDGs and reverse global crises

(Nairobi, 6 June 2023). -The second UN-Habitat Assembly kicked off on 5 June 2023 at the UN-Habitat headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The Assembly was opened by the President of Kenya, William Ruto. It brought together almost 5,000 delegates from more than 130 countries across the globe, who joined the session in person and remotely.
