Fourth coordination meeting on international migration
New York
Overview
The Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations is organizing the Fourth Coordination Meeting on International Migration in response to General Assembly Resolution 58/208 of 13 February 2004 on International Migration and Development, which requests the Secretary-General to continue convening meetings to coordinate activities regarding international migration.
The meeting has two main objectives: (a) to discuss the implications of the report of the Global Commission on International Migration and Development and its recommendations for the work on international migration of the United Nations system and for the High-Level Dialogue on International Migration that the General Assembly will conduct during its sixty-first session in 2006; and (b) to share information on recent activities of participant organizations that are most relevant for the High-Level Dialogue or that should be considered in the substantive preparations of the High-Level Dialogue.
